**** WELCOME to MIDWEST ****
We realize you have alot of choices in the motorsports industry. Here at Midwest, we really try harder to serve our customers and earn your business. Besides great prices and large selection, the primary difference you will find here is our people - these people! From years of experience to helpful attitudes, this is the best crew in the business! | | Midwest Performance actually began in my garage in the spring of 1980. I had just taken a factory job and could not leave the motorcycle passion alone. Having worked the 2 previous years for another dealer as technician and service manager, I was ready to try it alone. Originally named "Cycle Clinic", it was a part-time service-only business. We opened full-time as a non-franchised sales and service operation in 1982 behind what is now Sonic restaurant in Keokuk. The front yard then was a sales lot for gravestones - we used to jokingly call ourselves "Tombstone Honda." In 1983, we brought Honda on board, I quit my job at Union Electric, and we changed the name to Midwest Honda. We built our current facility new in 1984, added Yamaha in 1986, Sea Doo in 1988, and Can Am in 2007. We are constantly making numerous changes and updates to keep pace with the ever-changing market. This is an exciting business to be in and we understand we are here today due to our many loyal customers. We hope you enjoy doing business with Midwest! |
Richard Johnson, owner, age 48.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to live my passion for over 25 years. Starting at B&J Cycle Sales as a technician while I was a senoir, I was the luckiest kid in school. I married my wife, Shawnna in 1979, we have 2 children, whom are both married now. Nate and Sarah Johnson live in Ft. Madison, and Nate is working here. Tracy and Jun Alip are currently living in Keokuk, Jun is the Youth Pastor in our church and Tracy just graduated from Bible college in Springfield Mo. I love off-road racing, MX and Hare Scrambles, run the +40A class in both. I own a Honda CRF250F and love it! My other passion is bass guitar. I'm active in our local church, Victory Faith Community Church, where we do a lot of new contempory Praise and Worship music. Now my weekends are a realy quandry - race...or play....hmmmm. For the latest stories, see my "What's Up" box on this site. |

Cant wait to get back to doing some races this year, the 25+ class better watch out! We also do alot of activity in helping the "Project 7" youth group at our church. |
